National Tree Planting Day
National Tree Planting Day takes place on the Wednesday of National Forest Week, which is at the end of September.
This year it fell on Wednesday September 23rd and was Canada's fifth to take place. It serves as a reminder to everyone, all the benefits that trees provide us; clean air, wildlife habitat, reducing energy demand, and connecting with nature.
Kim Wilmot was the company representative who presented to the Grade 6 class. She engaged them in questions about the benefits of trees, and 6 members of the class were able to come up with different answers and were rewarded with our company Camo hats.
We were very impressed with the attentiveness of the class, and the knowledge they had about the importance of trees. They all got involved and helped to put soil on the tree to fill in the hole and finish the planting of it.
